Style Guide
Concrete
pavers are versatile and adaptable to the most diverse shapes imaginable
and are produced in a wide selection of colors, textures
and patterns. Pavers can be selected in four easy steps below,
the style guide offers some suggestions. When choosing paver colors,
select shades that harmonize with the area. Pavers a couple of
shades lighter than the color of the house or building do not compete
for attention. You may decide to avoid monotony by combining two
colors of paver or choosing a color blend. Take local water conditions
and well water proximity into consideration when choosing a light
color paver.
Paying attention to where the sun shines in your yard may help your
brick paver patio design. Think about the functionality of the shape
of your new patio and what furniture you would like to add. You may
want to incorporate small cut outs for planter beds, or a future
fire pit. Also keep in mind any sleeving for wiring for landscape
lighting or other needs under the patio, walk, or drive. Some pavers colors can vary slightly
according to the mix at time of production, we recommend visiting
one of our Jacksonville
showrooms
to view the finished product, or we will be happy to show you a completed
job in your chosen color in your area of town when available.
Step
1 - Shape
The First and most important step is to choose the shape of your
pavers. We offer a wide variety of shapes to choose from. We stock
some of
the more common shapes for you convenience and quick installation
needs. Common Shapes that you will see in the job
photos are; Appian
Combo: consisting of two different sizes of pavers- 6x6 and 6x9.
Olde Towne: three stone shapes mixed in a range of patterns- 6x6,
6x9 and 6x4. Holland Stone: A traditional 4x8 paver, set in various
patterns.
Step 2 - Color
Pavers are offered in a wide selection including solid colors made
with grey or white cement, and many color blends made with grey
or white cement. At least 13 color patterns are stocked to choose
from. Almost any color can be custom ordered and installed within
a few weeks.
Step
3 – Texture
Tumbled or antiqued pavers can add an old world and natural stone
look to you paver surface. Most of our concrete interlocking paver
products available have a camphor, or slight angled or rounded
edge at the top of the paver for a nice smooth look and feel.
Step
4– Layout
Pattern
Pavers can be set out in various patterns; the most common being
herringbone, basket weave, and running bond. Please also consider
the edge course, which is typically a vertically placed soldier
course done in the larger of the bricks chosen for the job.
